The playing venue Kipsala International Exhibition Centre is the biggest specialised exhibition complex in the Baltic countries. It is located nearby the historical Old City and business centre of Riga, close to the public transportation stops, hotels and restaurants. Riga International Airport, Riga International Bus Terminal and Central Railway Station are situated within a 10—20 minutes travelling distance.
Trade fairs, conferences, congresses, exhibitions, musicals, concerts and other mass events are being held at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre. Among that it is also the main venue of the largest chess festival in the Northern Europe - Riga Technical University Open, which last year had over 650 participants.
During the European Youth Chess Championship the playing hall for the players will be situated in a 6500m2 sized hall of the Centre and there will be a yet another hall of the Centre used as a catering area to serve lunches for all participants and recreation area for parents and accompanying persons.
